Steward Training 2025


Join us for our annual steward training event! The virtual classroom session will be online Thursday March 27th @ 8PM – 9:15PM and the in person field session will be held at Hartwood Acres Park on Saturday March 29th @ 9AM – Noon.

Anyone interested in becoming a Trail Pittsburgh Trail Steward, volunteering with us to do trail work, or just learn what we do is is welcome. What is a Trail Steward? A dedicated volunteer who contributes their time and effort to maintain and build singletrack trails in local parks, ensuring they remain safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all users. Lead Stewards act as a liaison between volunteers and land managers, planning projects and volunteer days.

 

Thursday’s online topics will include techniques for sustainable trail building and maintenance, invasive plant management, standards and guidelines for working with land managers and other volunteers, trail crew safety, and much more. Put the classroom lessons to work and learn from our Lead Stewards and Allegheny County Rangers on Saturday. We will work in the field to share trail construction and maintenance principles.
