SOUTH PARK

Allegheny County’s second largest park, with over 2000 acres, South Park was created in 1931 and was the county fairgrounds until the last 1960s.

Today it features various playing fields, a wave pool, golf course, skating rink, amphitheater, Scout cabins, BMX track, game preserve and nature preserve. It is also the site of the Oliver Miller Homestead, a Whiskey Rebellion site and pioneer landmark, which includes an original 18th century stone house and associated farm buildings that can be visited by the public. There are plans underway to resurrect the South Park Fairgrounds.
